after i done this the virus is gone but also most of my “exe” can’t run right after restart. anyway to fix this?
Good advice for AV10.exe Vista Antivirus pro. Just a follow up to last point:
“after i done this the virus is gone but also most of my “exe” can’t run right after restart. anyway to fix this?”
“to fix this, open a folder. Select Tools from the menu at the top, then click Folder Options. Select the third tab, file types. Click the New button. Type exe in the box, and click the advanced button. A drop down menu should appear. Find the one that says Application and select it. Then click OK. A window will pop up that basically says you’re replacing the exe application extension with an application extension, which you want to do. Click OK again. Should fix the problem.”
How do you fix .exe file associatings within Vista ?
Managed to get rid of the registry files. now doing a scan with Malwarebytes.
But I cant find the AV.exe or WRblt8464P.
Any help appreciated.
malwarebytes did not work i was advised to use it at another blog. well, thank u spyware doctor, coz you did help me!
I have the same issue as Shredd. Please can someone tell me where the av.exe file is so I can delete it!
I fell victim to this nasty virus today and it totally had me stumped, not to mention my blood pressure boiling. All the fixes i found online would not work no matter what I did. I ended up chatting with a rep from Microsoft and he had me a system restore. You will lose any downloads, which ones depends on what date you choose to restore to. You will not lose any files or documents to my knowledge. Here are the steps that I went through.
CLICK:
1. Start button in lower left corner (circle button with windows icon)
2. Programs or All Programs
3. Accessories
4. System Tools
5. System Restore
Once you click System Restore it may take a few seconds but a box will pop up bringing you to the restore wizard. Click the next button. It will take you to a screen showing some restore dates, make sure the box is checked in the lower left corner that says show dates older than 5 days. Once you have done this just pick a date and finish the restore process. You will want to choose a date that you can remember your computer running properly. Depending on the date you choose it can take a while to complete. Your computer will restart when its done. Its a good idea to run a scan as soon as you’re up and running to make sure all is good.
Hope this helps, Im praying this never happens to me again.
I encountered this problem last night, after hours of looking for a solution i decided that going through and deleting all the registry files was just to hard.
So i took one persons advice and did a systen restore and hey presto, its all gone and no more nasty messages
My advice – system restore to an earlier date = problem solved.

So I am also a victim of this vista antivirus thing. I followed the steps above to remove it and now I can’t even get my internet to open, amongst other things. A pop up keeps coming up that says “this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an associate in the Set Associations control panel.”. I can’t do a system restore either because the same message comes up. Tried to go back to the registry editor but it won’t allow me to bc the same message comes up. Does anyone know how to fix this??? PLEASE HELP!!!
